On a cool Sunday morning in July, Emmy and I are sitting on the front porch eating breakfast and listening to the birds. We enjoy the qualities of the sounds, and trying to describe them. I paraphrase a psalm that comes to mind, about how the whole world is singing to the creator. Emmy illustrates, pointing to that mourning dove’s song this morning from that tree right there. Then she hops down into the wet grass with bare feet and twirls around, throwing her palms to the sky. I join her…
